Why You Shouldn’t Ignore Your Lexus Faulty Brakes

No matter how many times you tell some individuals, they simply fail to realize the importance of vehicle maintenance. They, for whatever reason, choose to ignore faults or noises in their vehicle. When something is broken, they don't get it replaced or fixed. When it comes to Lexus faulty brakes, however, this is a huge mistake. Brakes, in general, are one of the most important parts of your vehicle.

If, while breaking, you hear squealing or some other kind of noise, it signifies brake pad wear. So much so, in fact, that you should get your brakes serviced ASAP. You're putting yourself, your passengers, and other drivers in danger when you ignore necessary brake repairs.

Ignoring Your Brakes

Normal wear and tear causes some of the brake problems your car will experience. Others, however, can result from braking system abuse, age, environmental conditions, and negligence. You’re putting everyone in danger by not taking brake system problems seriously. Other braking system components can, in fact, be damaged if you ignore the symptoms of bad breaks including the following:

  • Master cylinder
  • Discs
  • Brake lines
  • Calipers
  • Brake pads

Calipers and Rotors

A system of moving parts closely connects car brakes. Other elements can experience excessive wear and tear when damage to some components exists.

For example: If, beyond a certain point, you let your brake pads go without replacing them, the brake discs will be damaged. But that's not all. As a result, rotors can actually become warped or cracked. So instead of just replacing the brake pads, now you'll end up placing discs and rotors as well. What could have been an affordable repair is now a costly undertaking.

Stopping Distance

Sometimes, you can slow to a stop in a leisurely manner. Other times, stopping is an emergency and must be done immediately. It will be harder for your brakes to stop your car the more they wear out. To stop your vehicle, you may have to press harder on the brakes. You may also, in addition to longer stopping distances, experience shaking steering, brake slippage, your car pulling to one side, and more because of worn out brake pads. When you have to stop right now, slipping and drifting aren't acceptable.

Tire Wear

Tires can be worn down by bad brake pads. It will become harder to slow down your car, and you may be using your brakes more often, because it won't stop at the right spot. Hard braking wears out tires at a faster rate than normal braking. You may also end up causing uneven tire wear because the balance will be thrown off.

In addition to costing more for repairs that could have been affordable at first, ignoring the condition of your brake system is just dangerous and irresponsible. Get your brakes checked and serviced regularly or, at the very least, as soon as you notice a problem.
