How To Install New Lexus ES Car Key Battery

If you own a Lexus ES car, chances are you rely heavily on your key fob to unlock and start your vehicle. Over time, the battery in your key fob can run low, causing your key to malfunction or stop working altogether. Fortunately, replacing the battery on your Lexus ES car key is a simple process that you can do yourself. In this article, we'll walk you through the steps to install a new key fob battery and keep your key functioning properly.

What You'll Need:

  • A new battery (CR2032)
  • A small flathead screwdriver

Step 1: Open Your Key Fob

To replace the battery on your Lexus ES car key, you'll first need to open the key fob. Use a small flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the key fob at the seam. Be careful not to damage the plastic casing or any of the electronic components inside.

Step 2: Remove the Old Battery

Once you've opened the key fob, you'll see the old battery inside. Use the flathead screwdriver to carefully remove the old battery from its compartment. Be sure to note which side of the battery is facing up, as you'll need to insert the new battery in the same orientation.

Step 3: Insert the New Battery

With the old battery removed, it's time to insert the new one. Take your new CR2032 battery and carefully insert it into the battery compartment, making sure it's oriented correctly. The positive (+) side of the battery should be facing up.

Step 4: Test Your Key

After you've inserted the new battery, it's time to test your key to make sure it's working properly. Press any button on your key fob to see if your Lexus ES responds. If it does, congratulations – you've successfully replaced your key fob battery!

Step 5: Close Your Key Fob

Once you've tested your key and confirmed that it's working properly, it's time to close up the key fob. Simply align the two halves of the key fob and gently snap them back together. Be sure that the two halves are securely fastened and that there are no gaps or openings.
