How To Tackle A Faulty Lexus Window

Modern car windows are easy to operate – with the push of a button, you can easily roll your window up and down. You may even have accidentally pressed the button by casually resting your arm against the door! However, when you are faced with a faulty Lexus window, this can be frustrating, especially during summer when you wish to let some air in. In this article, we share with you how to tackle a faulty Lexus window.

Common Causes of Faulty Car Windows

When your car window refuses to roll up and/or down, it can be attributed to one or more of the common causes below:

  • You have accidentally engaged the child safety lock.
  • The fuses are blown, causing the electronic controls that handle the window to stop working.
  • Although the switch is working fine, the window motors have malfunctioned – this can be the case if you hear a grinding sound when the window rolls up or down.
  • The switch itself could be broken/
  • A dent in the car door prevents the window from rolling up or down despite the switch and motor functioning properly.
  • … and more!

Remedying a Faulty Car Window

Of course, the first step would be to try and identify what’s wrong with your faulty Lexus window. From there, you will want to try one or more of the following remedies:

  • Check the Safety Lock First

You don’t want to go through a lot of trouble if it turns out that you have simply forgotten to turn off the safety lock. This can happen after you have dropped your child off at school or at the end of a busy day.

  • Check for Any Blockages and Electronic Issues

If the space between your window and door is clogged with snow and/or ice, this can cause your window to get stuck. Always try to remove this manually but to avoid damaging the glass, you may want to melt the snow or ice with a lighter or rod first.

Another thing to watch out for is whether the other electronic components of your car are working properly. For instance, if the lights are malfunctioning as well, this could indicate a problem with the battery or circuit instead of your window in particular.

  • Try the Door Slam Method

This may sound too simple or even counterintuitive, but sometimes all it takes is slamming your car door to get your window working again. As glass windows are set on tracks within your car door, your window may have gotten dislodged from the track somehow. By pushing the switch in the desired direction and slamming your car door from the inside, repeating a few times if necessary, this can realign your window with the track.
