2022 Lexus GX vs. 2022 Genesis GV80

So you've decided to buy a car, and you're not sure which one to get. Well, that can be a daunting task! There are so many cars out there, with each manufacturer trying to make their vehicle the best of all time. That being said, I think the Lexus GS and BMW 535d M Sport are two very good options for luxury sedans, but which one is better? Let's find out!

Design & Style

  • Exterior Design

The exterior design of the 2022 Lexus GS is a modern take on its classic styling. The front, back, and sides are dominated by sharp lines and angles that give it an aggressive appearance. The headlights feature LED technology for improved visibility at night, while the taillights have been redesigned with a more contemporary look.

The 535d M Sport has an elegant design that balances traditional BMW styling cues and modern touches. It features standard LED headlights, which provide excellent illumination during nighttime driving conditions; however, this model does not have daytime running lights (DRLs).

  • Interior Design

When it comes to the interior design of these cars, they both have their own approach. The Lexus GS features a bold and distinctive style that has become synonymous with Lexus' design language. It's also one of the most comfortable and spacious cabins in its class, with plenty of room for passengers in front and back.

The BMW 535d M Sport is more traditional when it comes to its cabin design but still manages to feel fresh and modern thanks to some new features like an M-specific steering wheel and center console as well as standard iDrive 7 infotainment system with touchscreen display (which we love).

Technology & Safety

In the area of technology, the GS comes with a standard 10-inch touchscreen for its infotainment system. The 535d's standard infotainment screens are larger at 12.3 inches, but both are relatively straightforward to use and offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. If you're looking for a bit more advanced tech, there's also a 12-speaker Mark Levinson audio system available on the Lexus that boasts some new digital signal processing (DSP) features that promise better sound quality than any car before it.

The 2020 BMW 535d M Sport is equipped with an array of safety systems such as adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, lane change warning with automatic braking function, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert and high beam assistant.

Performance

The GS offers a pair of engines. The base engine is a 3.5L V6 making 306 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, while the top option is a 4.0L V8 making 406 hp and 381 lb-ft of torque. Both should feel strong in this class.

The BMW offers three engine options: A turbocharged 2.0L four with 248 hp and 258 lb-ft; a turbocharged 3.0L six with 335 hp and 332 lb-ft; or a turbocharged 4.4L eight with 400 hp and 406 lb-ft (though there's also an M Performance variant with 410 hp).

The Bottom Line

Overall, the GS is a much better choice than the 535. It's a better value, it has better features and it will last you longer.
