2020 Lexus NX vs. 2020 Toyota Rav4

The 2020 Lexus NX is a nimble yet refined sub-compact SUV from Lexus. It has a very comfortable cabin that is so well insulated that it is easy to forget there is a world outside the car. The instrument panel is ergonomically designed and everything is within reach. It also comes with a large roomy interior and plenty of luggage space.
The 2020 Toyota Rav4 is a well-designed and practical car as can be expected of most Toyota cars. The interior is also fairly spacious and offers a firm comfortable ride. It, however, lacks much of the tech that comes in the Lexus NX and is less imposing on the road.

Design & Style

With the 2020 Lexus NX, buyers get a sleek and boldly designed SUV that comes with two-tone styling. Owners also get a power-adjustable steering column and plush seats. Outside, the same bold and sporty lines that feature in all Lexus cars are here as well.

The styling on the Toyota Rav4 is geared more towards functionality than style. The car has generous legroom even on the rear seats which makes it more comfortable than previous models. The interior is good looking but not particularly outstanding. The build of the interior panels feels cheap although this is not surprising given the utilitarian nature of this compact SUV.

Technology & Safety

The NX comes with a bevy of features such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay that offer seamless connectivity to your phone. The car also includes an Active Cornering Assist feature that makes the car easier to handle. Lane recognition system, as well as road sign recognition systems all, add to the impressive array of features in this car.

The 2020 Toyota Rav4 offers a limited amount of tech in its base model and even the upgrades do not bring it anywhere close to the Lexus NX. You can upgrade to get a JBL audio system as well as a wireless charging pad.

Performance

The Lexus NX is powered by a turbocharged 2 Liter engine that produces plenty of power. A six-speed automatic transmission ensures that you get a smooth ride regardless of whether you are on the highway or off the beaten track. Zero to sixty is achieved in a rapid 6.9 seconds.

The Toyota Rav4 is, on the other hand, is powered by a 2.5-liter engine that delivers a somewhat sufficient performance. Performance, however, cannot be compared to that of the NX as it is not turbocharged. All said, the Rav4 will deliver a satisfactory but not inspired ride.

The Bottom Line

In almost all ways the 2020 Lexus beats the Toyota Rav4 hands down. From design to engine performance to cabin comfort. The Lexus NX is clearly the better car between the two.
