2020 Lexus NX vs. 2020 Acura RDX

The Lexus NX is a sub-compact SUV that manages to cleverly hide its SUV-ness with a comfortable cabin and car-like handling on the road. The Lexus NX features soft leather seats, lots of cargo space and a suite of technological delights that will make driving safer and easier.

The 2020 Acura RDX is a luxury crossover that offers a comfortable carlike-ride without the problems associated with SUVs. Although its small engine is a little problematic, the Acura RDX nevertheless delivers a prompt and speedy ride. Here is how the two vehicles compare to each other.

Design & Style

When it comes to design and styling, the Lexus NX surges ahead with its bold and sleek design. The Lexus MX also features two-tone styling inside as well as an impressive audio system. The power-adjustable steering column is an added feature for the 2020 model. The outer styling remains largely unchanged but still very distinctive.

The Acura RDX, on the other hand, has not had any changes to its outer styling. This could be because the RDX underwent a complete overhaul in 2019 and so no major changes would have been expected in 2020.

Technology & Safety

The Lexus NX features a variety of safety and technological delights that will make driving safer and easier. The 2020 model now has Android Auto added to the infotainment system. Before that, the car only featured Apple CarPlay. The NX also has a new road sign recognition system as well as a lane recognition system. Other new features include Active Cornering Assist as well as a host of other useful features.

The Acura RDX offers most of its tech in optional packages allowing drivers to choose what they want. Spec A, the premium model, offers little in the way of technology or performance upgrades. Choosing the technology package offers slightly better features such as a better audio system, leather seats, and some more. In this category, the Lexus NX is a clear winner given the options it offers as standard.

Performance

When it comes to the engine, the Lexus NX comes with a turbocharged 2.0 L engine that is powered by a six-speed automatic transmission. This gives the Lexus a satisfactory performance. The Lexus NX can move from zero to sixty in just 6.9 seconds. The car easily handles corners with minimal body roll and the turbo helps to keep the car performing at an optimum.

The Acura RDX, on the other hand, comes a turbo-charged2.0L engine that is controlled by a 10-speed automatic transmission. This makes the Acura pretty nippy and can move from zero to 60 in just 6.6 seconds. Highway performance was less commendable however and the car performed rather sluggishly at highway speeds.

The Bottom Line

There is very little doubt that the Lexus NX is a clear winner between the two cars. This is in terms of engine performance, technology packages, and even styling.
